Is One Better Than Two? Poultney VT Considers Consolidation After CGR Merger Impact Study

CGR recently completed a study for the Town and Village of Poultney, Vermont, evaluating current government structures and finances and exploring potential scenarios for the community’s future. The study was highlighted in the Rutland Herald following a community meeting where residents discussed the findings.

Ever since the closure of Green Mountain College – a longstanding community asset and source of pride – Poultney has been reimagining itself and charting its path forward as a vital and sustainable community. This project provided Poultney leaders and residents with a clearer understanding of one possible path forward through our evaluation of the fiscal, operational, and community impacts of potential municipal consolidation. The community’s Steering Committee now weighs options.
