Charting a Course for Improved Service in Port Jefferson

How do you take a thriving seaside village like Port Jefferson, NY and make it even more effective and desirable?

Last year, CGR partnered with the Village of Port Jefferson to conduct an operational analysis of four key departments. Our mission was to evaluate staffing, core functions, and administrative roles to ensure the Village's infrastructure was as robust as its community.
 
Our team conducted a deep-dive and cross-cutting operational review of Building & Planning, the Village Clerk’s Office, Treasury, and the Village Center & Recreation. By blending qualitative data (interviews and workplace observations) with quantitative insights (employee satisfaction surveys), we identified both department-specific needs and cross-cutting themes that impacted the entire Village.

The result? A clear set of actionable recommendations and steps -- including model organizational charts, which can serve as tactical blueprints for restructuring, ensuring every role is positioned for maximum impact and efficiency -- that empower Village leadership and Department Heads to lead with confidence and ensure the Village operates as smoothly as a calm day on the Harbor.
