Alice Carle, M.P.P
Associate Principal
Alice Carle has a background in philanthropy and a diverse portfolio of work at CGR, having directed and contributed to projects ranging from community needs assessments to asset mapping to local government analysis.
Ms. Carle has overseen several needs assessments including projects focused on the unmet needs of people who use drugs in Rochester, NY, and Oswego County, NY. She also directed asset mapping projects including a map and assessment of the charitable food network in Northwest Arkansas and an analysis of assets and capacity building needs of nonprofit organizations in Western New York. Youth employment was the focus of a project for the Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo.
Ms. Carle has experience in community-based participatory research through her work on a project to design an equitable out-of-school time system in Rochester that used diverse and creative methods to gather parent and community input. She has completed data equity training through We All Count and helped create program evaluation plans for afterschool programs in Buffalo, NY. Her local government work includes assisting with several EMS projects as well as reviewing the operations of Warren County for its comprehensive plan.
Prior to joining CGR in 2017, Ms. Carle served as a program officer and program director at the Kresge Foundation for 10 years. Earlier in her career, Alice worked for the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the Ann Arbor Area Community Foundation, and Crisis Clinic of Seattle. In these roles, she designed and implemented strategic giving programs and other grant-making processes.
