You Can Help Fund Projects that Benefit Communities

In the words of George Eastman, who founded our organization in 1915, it is “important to get things done for the community” and to “to serve as an independent, non-partisan agency for keeping citizens informed.” We achieve these objectives with help from individuals, corporations and foundations that believe, as we do, that government should be effective, efficient and transparent.

Every year we undertake special initiatives that are designed to serve the public interest. These initiatives grow out of the work we do and involve issues or concerns we do not see others addressing. Our current initiative, a conference in Albany featuring policy experts, deals with the challenges facing health care in New York. Other recent initiatives have focused attention on voter concerns, property tax reform, and grants a state’s legislators hand out without public scrutiny for “capital” projects. Since CGR is a nonprofit organized under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, your contribution is tax-deductible. Thank you.
