Facilitator & Implementation Services

Organizations turn to CGR directors to serve as facilitators, and draw upon their expertise to help direct strategic planning processes, launch initiatives, tackle concerns that cut across departments, or kick off project implementations.

In 2006, CGR directors were engaged to:

•  Direct a strategic planning process – for the Auburn NY City Manager, department heads and City Council. The process identified actions needed to address a projected multi-year budget deficit, and included a day-long session open to the public. Council and department heads discussed service improvement and reduction options, revenue and tax alternatives, and implementation timeframe constraints. In 2002, CGR led a similar process for Auburn.

•  Help a task force begin implementation of an action plan– In 2005, CGR completed a major study, funded by Broome County, that identified 300 Broome County children and adolescents have co-occurring mental health and developmental disability conditions and unmet service needs. As part of the study, CGR made recommendations for bridging gaps between the state's mental health and developmental disability service systems. In 2006, CGR helped the task force kick off the recommended “action plan.” CGR's study is attracting attention from other counties facing similar challenges.

CGR Director Charles Zettek's analysis and knowledge base were extremely beneficial in assessing our needs. He was able to quickly evaluate our processes and proceed to engage the participants in a viable brainstorming session.

Assistant Supt. for Technology
Monroe #1 BOCES, Rochester

•  Address a multi-department issue – Monroe #1 BOCES in Rochester turned to CGR to help evaluate its business processes and systems used to record, track and depreciate assets. A CGR director facilitated a one-day meeting attended by representatives from multiple departments, assisted with identifying “next steps” and guided staff in a direction that will improve the asset tracking process.

•  Facilitate a retreat – for the boards of the United Way of Schenectady County and United Way of Northeastern New York.

•  Launch an initiative for an early childhood coordinated services initiative that involves multiple stakeholder groups in Dutchess County.
