As CGR’s Chief Financial Officer, Ms. Barnes is responsible for key finance and administration activities, including budgeting, risk management, human resources and benefits, and grant and facilities management. In addition, she consults on various CGR research projects in such areas as benefit analysis, not-for-profit governance, and financial statement preparation and review.

Ms. Barnes’ career experience also includes more than 10 years working with numerous NYS government offices and programs, including the Office of Mental Health (OMH), Office of Alcoholism & Substance Abuse Services (OASAS), and Consolidated Fiscal Reporting (CFR). She also has experience budgeting and reporting for foundation grants, including the Institute of Museum and Library Sciences, and is a certified diversity trainer.

Education
B.A. from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University; post graduate work in finance and accounting; and audit certificates in data processing and risk management

Background
Prior to joining CGR in 2004, Ms. Barnes served 4 years as CFO of the Genesee Country Museum in Mumford NY, which has assets of more than $15 million. Previously she held increasingly responsible financial management positions in both the public and private sectors with businesses and nonprofit organizations located in Norfolk MA, and Brooklyn, Syracuse and Rochester NY. Ms. Barnes is currently treasurer of the Ad Council of Rochester and is the 2010 recipient of its Lantern Award for public service. She is a past treasurer of Mercy Residential Services (Melita House), located in Rochester NY.
